Police-community liaison must to resolve public issues

GARAM CHASHMA, April 8: An open katchery was held in Garam Chashma which was attended by DIG Malakand Azad Khan, DPO Chitral Abbas Majeed Marwat and other police officers. A large number of civil society representatives belonging to different aspects of life also attended the katchery. DSC00142The main objective of holding the meeting was to strengthen coordination and listen to the issues and complaints of the citizens and get recommendations from the community. Community representatives spoke about law and order situation and controlling price of potato seed, drug issues. As it is a fact that police cannot resolve public issues and other crimes alone without community help and coordination it was emphasized in the public katchery that such committees comprising police and civil society representatives should be strengthened to deal with the different social issues. As the constitution expressly states that the first obligation of the citizens is respecting rule of law which implies helping the law enforcement agencies. It is to be noted that the current SHO Lotkoh along with his team is doing well in the area in the performing of his duties and developing linkages with the community in solving their issues. The community should be proactive in enhancing this liaison’ if they want a more peaceful area free of all sorts crimes .]]>
