BOONI, Dec 25: Chanchori tournament ended with great pomp and show at Pacheli in Bumbagh. The event was organized by MCC Kosht.
About 62 teams took part in the event. The final match was played between Zait and Mastuj. MNA Iftikhar Udin was the chief guest.
Zait made 109 runs with the loss of seven wickets with Raja 42 runs, including six sixes. In reply, Mastuj could make only 71 all out. Raja was declared man of the match.
Speaking on the occasion, the MNA appreciated the youth for taking part in physical activities. He said the federal government did not sanction any fund for his constituency to launch development projects. In Musharraf’s era, the Atahk scheme was started but it has not yet been completed even after spending 140 million rupees on the project. “We had a meeting with the irrigation department officials and are trying to re-launch the project and end the public reservations.” He promised to work for generating 18 megawatt electricity by opening new power stations. He said there was also a site in Kosht where 200 megawatt can be generated.
He claimed that in 2006 Telenor established its towers in different areas of upper Chitral but were not made functional. He said he made the towers functional after meeting the prime minister. He said he had also requested the prime minister to approve installation of internet facilities in every corner of Chitral so that students can benefit from it.
He said the Federal Urdu University would also establish its campus in Chitral and Booni in the near future. The MNA also announced Rs.30,000 for the MCC management, winner and the runner-up teams.]]>
