Promotion of technical & vocational education discussed

CHITRAL, Dec 23: A civil society consultative meeting discussed the promotion of technical and vocational education and training in Chitral. TVET, which in the present era is a widely acknowledged and much emphasized sector, would help in livelihood support in this backward area. The consultative meeting was convened by Integrated Rural Uplift Program (IRUP) a local CSO. Held in the main office of IRUP, the meeting was attended by BoD members, journalists, prayer leaders and members of the civil society. Briefing the participants, IRUP focal person Kamal A. Jamil said the TVET sector played a pivotal role in human development and now it had taken much importance in our country as well as in international community. He appreciated the role of AKRSP and SRSP in providing technical education. He said now TUSDEC, a national level organization, has decided to start its activities in Chitral and IRUP would jointly work with TUSDEC. The meeting suggested that with the support and of district administration there should be district level a network for strengthening of TVET sector.
