Female entrepreneurship award winner speaks about her successes

BOONI, Nov 22: The Pakistan-US Alumni Network (PUAN) in collaboration with Global Entrepreneurship Week-Pakistan (GEW) has organized a three-day conference in Islamabad which started on November 21.

On the first day of the event, Qurban Bibi from Booni, Chitral, who was declared the national winner of the 8th Citi-PPAF Micro-entrepreneurship Award 2012, addressed the participants. Ms Qurban Bibi shared with the participants her success story, challenges she had been facing as a female entrepreneur and the opportunities in the rural areas of Pakistan.

Ms Qurban is the founder of Al Hunar Professional Centre and she first decided to become a micro-entrepreneur after attending a business services training programme organized by the First Micro-Finance Bank of Pakistan. She took a micro loan to set up a sewing business and over time developed the business and now owns a variety of machines and provides sewing, designing, and photographic services to her customers.
