Rally asks people to ensure children's rights
CHITRAL, Nov 21: Children from different private and public schools in the Chitral town held a rally in connection with the Universal Children’s Day and raised their voice against child labour all over the world.
The rally was organized by the Child protection Unity Chitral, which is working for the protection of child rights in the valley.
The rally started form the CPU office at polo ground and after reaching the local press club turned into A large gathering. The participants of the rally were carrying placards and chanting slogans demanding that children should be given their due rights and authorities should take measures against child labours. District officer social welfare Ahmed Yar Khan, district khateeb Maulana Fazle Mola, general manager National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) Chitral Muhammad Afzal, Principal Nabi Hussain and teachers of different schools also participated in the rally.
Addressing the participants, social worker of CPU Imranuddin spoke about the activities of the organizations in Chitral and also briefed them about the KP Child Protection Welfare Act 2010.
CPU’s another social worker, Umair Ali Shah, on the occasion called upon the children to approach the organization in case of any help regarding their rights. He also appealed to the parents and notables to cooperate and strengthen the branches of the CPU which have been opened in almost all villages of Chitral.
The district khateeb on the occasion highlighted the rights of children and the responsibilities of parents according to the teachings of Islam.
The NCHD general manager said that child labour was against human values and no religion allowed it. He said society should work to ensure that children got all their basic rights such as proper education and healthcare.
In the end, the CPU officials distributed free uniforms and stationery among the deserving children. Such functions were also held in other areas of Chitral by the CPU.]]>
