Drosh police go after drug peddlers, recover liquor, charas
DROSH, Nov 14: The Drosh police in an early morning swoop at a house in a village here claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of charas and liquor.
The police said that on a tip-off, they raided the house of Abdul Hamid in the Chekdam village and recovered 16410 grams of charas and 33 literes locally made liquor. However, the police said that during their raid, Abdul Hamid was not present in the house so he could not be arrested.
Talking to this correspondent, subdivisional police officer Zafar Ahmed said that drug peddling had become a major social issue and the police would use all its available resources to eliminate the scourge. He said that the SHO Drosh Molai Shah and his team were actively working against drug peddlers.]]>
One of the police officials in picture is the biggest Liqour infested guy in Chitral. I bet he has consumed most of it cache rather than destroying it. The problem of liquor and charas in Chitral is difficult to eradicate as huge money is involved and big names are involved. The drug smugglers are in cohorts with transporters, police, LEA and other government officials. It has been reported that most of the big hotels are openly involved in this trade and one can easily find a different local and foreign brand. However charas (hashish) is very common and there are dealers big or small in every village and police has all the details of the people involved.
