Two doctors sent to Chitral from Kohat as punishment

Philanthropist doctors come to help poor patients

DROSH, Nov 5:  About 350 patients were examined and most of the operated upon at a two-day free surgical camp which concluded at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Drosh on Wednesday. The camp was organized by Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation, a branch of Jamat-e-Dawa, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Ayub of the Services Hospital, Lahore.

Talking to this correspondent, Dr. Ayub said they conducted 30 free operations on the poor patients, most of whom were suffering from kidney ailments. Abu Haroon, the chief of FIF for Malakand division, said they arranged  the camp every year for the poor patients of Chitral and other backward areas.

A patient belonging to Ashiret valley in Lower Chitral added that his wife was in a critical condition in a delivery case but Dr. Ayub and his team successfully operated  on her and delivered the baby. Dr. Ayub announced that they will establish/open a free dispensary at Chitral by deploying a qualified doctor and paramedic staff to serve the needy patients.

Local people said there was no surgeon at the THQ hospital in Drosh and the patients had to go to Chitral or Peshawar for treatment. Some of the patients demanded the appointment appoint a surgeon and specialist doctors at the hospital in Drosh.
