Delay increases cost of Golen Gol project
CHITRAL, July 23: A local leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has said due to unnecessary delay, the estimated cost of Golen Gol Hydropower Project has now reached 28 billion which was Rs7 billion in 2002. “The Golen Gol Hydropower project was approved by the ENEC in September 2002 against an estimated cost of Rs7 billion. But now it has increased to 28 billion because of inflation,” said Saeed Ahmed Khan, district president of PML-N, in a statement. Saeed Ahmed also expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of work on the project saying that only 30 percent work has been completed so far. The former MPA demanded provision of electro-mechanical instruments and mobilisation of work on transmission line by the contracted firms. Saeed Ahmad deplored no high level delegation visited the project during the last two years. He, however, lauded the services of ex-project director for completing the five km tunnel in a record period of two years during his tenure. The PML-N leader appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Asif to visit the project to ensure the timely completion of the project.–The News]]>
