CHITRAL, June 9: Parliamentary secretary on forest, environment and wildlife KP Fazal Elahi was given briefing by Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) about its activities in Chitral.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial parliamentary secretary lauded the services of SLF in wildlife research, monitoring and conservation. He said non-government organizations were playing vital role in the socio-economic development and safeguarding the eco-system.
The parliamentary secretary said the contributions made by SLF in the field of wildlife research, community participative conservation of the most valuable and endangered species and livelihood support to the communities were very important. He emphasized on more community driven conservation initiatives. He said that our province was habitat of valued wildlife species therefore wildlife sector would be given proper attention.
He added that the provincial government was committed to develop every sector and the wildlife sector not be neglected. The parliamentary secretary appreciated the snow leopard enterprise component which was aimed in promoting livelihood of mountain communities.
Mr. Fazal Elahi asked the SLF to submit a detail report regarding the conservation of snow leopard and other endangered species.
