Rare opportunity for Chitrali youth to join Pakistan Navy
CHITRAL, May 18: A team of Pakistan Navy headed by Commander Khalil will be conducting test for selection of Chitral youth in the Navy in different parts of the valley from May 18 to 22.
MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin during his National Defense University (NDU) course in January 2014 had met Chief of Navy Staff, Vice Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Pakistan Air Force on separate occasions with a request to recruit greater number of Chitrali youth in the armed forces of Pakistan.
The Chief of Naval Staff on Jan 9 had directed Deputy Recruitment Director of Pak Navy Commander Abdul Ghafoor who in turn asked the Recruitment Officer Swat to select maximum number of eligible Chitrali youth in the Navy.
Upon MNA Chitral’s request, it has been decided that maximum number of the total target of 600 candidates for Malakand Division shall be selected from Chitral as against the original target of 20 to 30 set for Chitral.
The MNA had informed the Navy officials that Chitral had the highest literacy in the entire KP province but also faced the highest unemployment. The Navy officials have assured the MNA that if Chitrali youth met the criteria in an open merit policy, they can recruit hundreds of Chitrali candidates.
Job categories include Naval Police, Navy Band, drivers and other naval staff. The MNA has appealed to all the deserving candidates to appear in the Navy tests to be held at Drosh, Chitral, Garam Chashma, Booni, Mastuj and Kalash valleys of Bumborate, Rumboor and Birir.
It may be noted that Garam Chashma was not in the original plan but has been included as a special case where the Navy officials will spend two days.
