JUI Chitral seeks immediate opening of Lowari top road

DROSH, April 28: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chitral has said due to the apathy of the government departments concerned, the Lowari top road could not be opened even at the end of April. In a statement, it said that last year too, the Lowari pass road was opened in the month of June when the snow melted on its own. The JUI demanded that the government should direct the departments concerned to remove the snow and opened the road so that the people of Chitral could be saved from remaining blocked for five days every week. Meanwhile, a conference was held at a hotel in Drosh to discuss the blockade of Lowari Top road and the problems being faced by commuters as well as drivers. All parties, driver union, merchant union and elders of Drosh were present on the occasion. The conference was chaired by Haji Naznin Shah. A resolution passed by the participants demanded that the Lowari top road should be opened without further delay. The resolution said that the NHA had all machinery and facilities but even that its officials were not bothered to fulfill their responsibilities. It may be noted that every year the government allocates funds for the removal of the snow from the Lowari top road but the NHA gets the funds and wait for the melting of the snow on its own by May. The people of Drosh said that if the government did not take notice of the issue within a week, they would launch a protest move.]]>
