No outsider should come to Chitral for exam duty, say teachers

CHITRAL, March 12: Representatives of teachers at a meeting here opposed deputing of teachers from Peshawar on duty during the matriculation examination in Chitral. The meeting chaired by Waqar Ahmed, the president of All SST Association, was held at the Centennial Model High School. The teachers said the chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education considered Chitrali teachers dishonest that was why he had deputed teachers from Peshawar for duty during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination in Chitral. They demanded that the chairman BISE should discourage this practice and depute local teachers for the exam duty. They said if non-local teachers were detailed in Chitral, teachers from Chitral should be detailed for exam duties in Peshawar otherwise they will boycott any exam duty in future. When this scribe contacted Mohammad Ismail, the in-charge BISE camp office Chitral, he denied the allegations of the teachers. He said that there was shortage of teachers in Chitral so the chairman of the board had sent teachers from Peshawar to Chitral. He said that some eight teachers from Peshawar had been engaged in the exam duty but in the same number teachers from Chitral also had been detailed for duty in Peshawar. He said no one was willing for duty at upper Chitral he added. And 25 superintendents are absent out of a total 66 and they were arranged locally, he added. Meanwhile, some students and their parents complained that they had not yet received the roll number slips.—GH Farooqui  ]]>
