CM ignores varsity demand for Chitral

PESHAWAR, March 9: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak during a meeting with a delegation of PTI Chitral chapter here did not give any specific assurance about launching development projects or establishing a university in the remote valley. ptiThe three-member delegation was led by Bibi Fozia MPA and comprised Abdul Lateef, the president of PTI Chitral, and Rehmat Ghazi. The chief minister claimed that the era of progress and prosperity would be ushering in the province soon. “We instead of taxing or burdening our people for resources will get our arrears and share of hydel net profit from the centre for which senior minister finance Sirajul Haq is doing serious efforts,” he said. He said the coalition government believed in such a development that besides construction of roads, schools and colleges can also enhance job opportunities and poor can also prosper. Mr Khattak said Chitral was indeed a far-flung and backward district but the provincial government was taking concrete steps to bring all such areas of the province at par with developed areas and provide basic amenities to the people. He assured the delegation that new developmental schemes would be included in the next annual development plan (ADP).

We have to focus our attention on providing sufficient educational facilities in the existing two campuses of universities in Chitral instead of opening a fully-fledged university in the district, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
He said his government was taking solid steps to equip all the existing institutions with latest machinery and facilities while later attention would also be given to setting new buildings and institutions on the   need basis. He said the provincial government was spending 80 per cent of its resources on the ongoing while rest of 20 per cent on the new schemes with the sole aim of continuity of the developmental process. He said that people would soon be benefited of the fruits of the measures of the government and they would see and feel pleasant changes in their surroundings. He asked the party office bearers and assembly members to play dynamic role in selflessly serving the people of their areas.]]>

    The most immediate and pressing problem of the people of Chitral is not opening the tunnel on daily basis for travel and mistreating of travelers at the tunnel. This problem is not mentioned in the meeting.
