Drivers fined for overcharging

DROSH, March 2: The local administration here has warned public transporters on the Chitral-Dir route against overcharging the passengers. ACThe warning was issued after public complaints which said that the drivers were violating the fares fixed by the government on the route and had increased the fares on their own. Talking to this correspondent here, Basharat Hussain, the additional assistant commissioner Drosh, said that on the public complaints he launched a campaign and fined the errant drivers here on Saturday. He said that the extra fares received by the drivers coming from Dir to Chitral were returned to the passengers. The passengers appreciated the move and demanded that such drives should be launched on a regular basis to keep an eye on the drivers who disregard the officially fixed fares and deceive the passengers.—Jahan Zeb]]>
