FIR against Kunar governor demanded
KARACHI, Jan 13: Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik here demanded that the registration of an FIR against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mulla Fazlullah and spokesman Shahidullah Shahid was not enough in the murder of CID police officer Chaudhry Aslam. Talking to the media here, he said that the governor of the Kunar province of Afghanistan had given shelter to the Taliban who fled from the Swat valley when the Pakistan army launched an operation against them. Mr Malik was of the view that the governor of Kunar should also be booked in the murder case as all the fugitive Taliban were operating from his province. It may be noted that the governor of Kunar is Shujaul Mulk Jalala, whose forefathers migrated to Afghanistan from Chitral in the early 20th century and settled in the Jalala area of the neighboring country. He also remained member of Afghan parliament and an adviser to President Hamid Karzai before becoming the governor of Kunar last year. Since the Swat operation of 2009, Chitralis have also stopped using the Taliban-infested Kunar-province route during winter when the Lowari pass remains closed due to snowfall for about four months. A few years back, Talibal intruders also killed about 40 personnel of the Chitral Scouts in the Arandu valley of Chitral.]]>
