Govt promises fund increase for Lowari tunnel
ISLAMABAD, Dec 17: The National Assembly was on Tuesday assured that the federal government would increase allocation of funds for early completion of the Lowari Tunnel. However, the government did not give any timeframe or specify the amount of fund to be increased. In reply to question of MNA Iftikharuddin and others, Minister of Sate for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab told the house that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave high importance to the Lowari Tunnel project. He said the prime minister was also given a briefing by the National Highway Authority (NHA) recently. He said that the design of the tunnel was changed in 2009 in order to facilitate the passage of heavy traffic from the 8.5 kilometers long tunnel, he added.]]>
