Imported trout fish released into Lotkoh River
CHITRAL, Nov 16: About 50,000 trout fish imported from the United States have been released into the Lotkoh River to compensate for the lost brought about by the flooding in the summer this year. This was stated by former KPK minister and current MPA from lower Chitral Saleem Khan here. The River Lotkoh is famous for the trout fish but the flood this year almost cleared the river of the species. The MPA said because of his efforts a move was launched through the fisheries department to import trout fish from the American Hatchery Trout Lodge. He said after the arrival of the fish, he himself released them into the Lotkoh River. He congratulated the fisheries department for its efforts to arrange the import of the fish. District officer fisheries Amir Hamza on the occasion added that the flood had caused irreparable damage to the population of the trout fish. He said besides the Lotkoh River, his department also released thousands of imported fish into the rivers in Bumburate and other areas.
