Female student from remote Chitral village completes M.Phil

ISLAMABAD, July 15: Mehnaz Liaquat from Brep in upper Chitral has completed her M.Phil in Biotechnology from the Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology, University of Peshawar, securing the highest grade (3.8 GPA).  The topic of her thesis was “Microbiology and evaluation of antibiotic resistant bacterial profiles of drinking water in Peshawar.  Prof. Dr. Gul Majid Khan of Quaid-i-Azam University acted as her external examiner, Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmed, the dDirector of the Centre as supervisor and Dr. Javed Ali of PCSIR as co-supervisor. Scholar Mehnaz Liaquat presented her final thesis paper very effectively and confidently before external and internal examiners, facculty members of the centre, M.Phil and PhD. scholars of the department. She responded very confidently to many questions raised by examiners and finally was declared eligible for the award of a M.Phil degree. Scholar Mehnaz comes from Brep, Mastuj in upper Chitral. She passed her primary education from The G.D. Langland (Sayurj) School Chitral, secondary education from Sultan Mohammad Shah Aga Khan School Karachi, intermediate from Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Karachi and master in biotechnology from University of Karachi all in A-1 grades. She is the daughter of Liaquat Ali, the first manager of AKES-P in Chitral and the sister of Dr. Mehmood Ali of Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi.
