Zoonotic disease awareness walk held

Photo GH Farooqui.[/caption] CHITRAL, July 9: An awareness walk about zoonotic diseases was held under the aegis of Livestock for Life Program of Relief International here on Tuesday. The walk started from Chitral press Club and terminated at PIA chowk after passing through different bazaars. The representatives of different civil society organizations participated in large number. The veterinary officer of RI, Dr. Waqar Ahmed while addressing the participants said that the zoonotic diseases assumes horrendous position when they break out in an area and Chitral, which was one of the vulnerable areas. He said that the program was aimed at raising awareness, encouraging behavior change, prevention, response capacity building, zoonotic diseases at grass root level, information dissemination and the axis of all its activities was to mitigate the vulnerability of poor farming communities. He said that the program has targeted five union councils of the district where awareness activities are afoot and different segments of the civil society has been engaged in related activities to create awareness at mass level.– Zahiruddin  ]]>
