PPP tickets: Angry workers' ultimatum to leadership

CHITRAL, April 17: Senior workers of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) here on Tuesday rejected the candidates awarded tickets by the party for PK 89 and NA 32 and warned the central leadership to review the decision within two days. [caption id="attachment_9685" align="alignleft" width="300"] The angry PPP workers at the press conference.[/caption] Addressing a press conference, former district Naib Nazim Sultan Shah, retired SP Saeed Khan Lal, Haji Inzar Gul, former Nazim Union Council Sheshi Koh Sher Mohammad, AC retired Sardar Mohammad Khan, Haji Mohammad Shifa, president trucks owners association, Habib Hussain Mughal, president trade union Chitral, former Nazim UC Ayun Rahmat Elahi and others said they were loyal workers of the PPP but the central leadership of the party never consulted them about the distribution of party tickets for election 2013. They said that they tried time and again to convince the central leadership to award tickets after proper scrutiny and consultation with the workers but to no avail. They said that former Tehsil Nazim Sartaj Ahmad Khan was a well known and a popular leader in Chitral and that is why they had proposed his name for PK 89. Haji Inzar Gul and Sher Mohammad said that during the general election 2008 the PPP had also ignored its workers and their candidate faced defeat in the National Assembly seat. The said that they belonged to Gujjar tribe having 12,000 votes which will be cast in favor of Sartaj Ahmad Khan. They said that they were cheated by their provincial leaders who had promised that they would come to Chitral and resolve the issue. They gave a deadline of two days to the party leadership to take back the party ticket from Salim Khan and award it to Sartaj Ahmed otherwise they would vote against the PPP candidate and cause a humiliating defeat to the PPP. A large number of people belong to different walks of life assured fully supporting Sartaj Ahmad Khan on this occasion.     Due to these people, the PPP lost NA seat in 2008 elections. loyal workers of the party can’t do this. Sardar AC, a PPP candidate, got 19000 votes in 2008 elections and now there is no problem for PPP ticket holders.
