Scouts cadet cricket tournament begins
CHITRAL, April 9: The Chitral Scouts cadet cricket tournament started at Major Ali Shaheed Ground here on Tuesday. Commandant Chitral Scouts Col Nasir Khan Jadoon was chief guest on the occasion while the tournament is being supervised by Major Kazmi, the Deputy Quarter Master of the Scouts. Some 32 teams are participating in the tournament. Talking to this scribe, a young boy from Kalash community said there is no playground in Kalash valleys and that is why players from that community were forced to come to Chitral to play cricketl. Another player said the youth of Chitral were very fond of matches and games but there was no public stadium in Chitral as a result young generation cannot participate in national level sports. He appealed to the provincial government to set up a public stadium in Chitral so as to provide an opportunity to the young generation to enhance their skill and join the national and international teams. The first match of the tournament was played between SRSP and Kalash cricket team in which SRSP won with six wickets.
