Chitral's environment issues taken up with Senate body
The group briefed the Senate Committee on Climate Change, which is headed by Senator Dr. Saeeda Iqbal, about the environmental issues faced by Chitral with special focus on deforestation of local forest and recent illegal shooting of Markhor in conservancy area, says a press release. The committee is briefed about importance of Chitral in conservation of endanger species like snow leopard. The delegation briefed the committee about the activities carried out by CHEPS for protection of environment and steps taken to achieve clean and green Chitral goal. Senate committee appreciated the steps taken by communities in Chitral and assured the delegation to raise the issue in Senate to take all possible steps to stop the deforestation process and to probe into the issue. Senator also assured the delegation to visit Chitral along with team members and Federal Secretary for Climate changes to look into the matter. Federal secretary for climate change was also present in the meeting.]]>
Markhor is national animal, Pakistan is identified with Markhor. Did anyone raised the issue of Markhor ? I am reading here:
