200 KV micro hydropower station inaugurated
CHITRAL, Sept 24: Inauguration ceremony of 200 KV micro hydropower house was held at Bumbureet of Kalash Valley, constructed by Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) with the financial aid of Australian government. [caption id="attachment_4235" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Shazada Masoodul Mulk, the CEO SRSP.--GH Farooqui"][/caption] Miss Shandana Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Rural Support Program Network (RSPN), was chief guest while Chief Executive of SRSP Shahzada Masoodul Mulk, Peter Oborne Chief Political Commentator of Daily Telegraph London were present on the occasion. Addressing on the occasion Masoodul Mulk said Australian government donated Rs.20 million grants for construction of this 200 Kilowatt power house. Its beneficiaries are 800 and it is a social enterprises base project. Local community will take over the power house and will be responsible for its maintenance. Rs.2000 will be charged per consumer for meter and connection fee. Abdul Majeed Qureshi former Nazim of the Union council thanked SRSP for launching this power house which was long awaited demand of these people. He demanded for launching more developmental schemes in this neglected area. Peter Oborne also thanked Australian government for funding this project which will bring positive changes in the lives of the local people. Elites of the area also highly hailed efforts of SRSP for construction of power house as in past the area was deprived from electricity and people of the area were facing numerous problems due to non availability of power supply.
