Walk held at Qurumbar Lake

GAHKUCH: A walk was held near the 14,200 feet high Qurumbar Lake in order to create awareness among the masses about the importance of environment protection. 

The walk was organized by the tourism department of the Ghizer district in collaboration with the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). A large number of people, including the deputy commissioner of Ghizer and other government officials and civil society representatives, participated in the walk. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans regarding protection of environment and people’s responsibilities.  The walk started from the east side of the lake and ended at the central area.

Addressing on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Qamar Shehzad said that protection of the environment was the responsibility of all members of society. He said civil society organizations played an important role in environmental protection but in a civilized society it was the responsibility of each and everyone to protect the environment.
