Eight killed in accident near Mirkhani

CHITRAL, July 11: Eight persons were killed and four others sustained serious injuries when a jeep carrying them from Upper Dir to Chitral fell into a deep ravine on the bank of Ziarat nullah near Mirkhani on Wednesday afternoon. The dead included driver Gul Badshah and Rafiqullah from Upper Dir, Mohammad Adil and Raz Mohammad from Peshawar, Nasir from Mardan, and Hazrat Hussain from Chitral. The two others could not be identified as their bodies were beyond recognition. The cause of the accident was stated by the local police as reckless driving. The bodies and the injured have been removed to the DHQ hospital where two of them are said to be in precarious condition, the medical superintendent Dr Noorul Isalm said.
