While most parts of Chitral received rain on Friday, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert about widespread thunderstorms and rain in KP from Saturday (today) to Wednesday.
A shallow westerly wave is affecting the upper and central parts of the country. This weather system is likely to intensify on Sunday (evening/night) and grip most parts of the country on Monday.
Under the influence of this weather system, dust/thunderstorm, rain are expected in scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.
From Monday to Wednesday, the province will experience widespread dust-thunderstorm/rain from moderate to heavy fall in the province.
A hailstorm is also expected at isolated places, said the PDMA in an advisory on Friday.
It also warned that heavy rains may trigger landslides in Malakand division and other hilly areas.
The PDMA asked all government departments and local administrations to take precautionary measures to avoid any loss to life and property.
