Rain, Lightning Leave Seven Dead in KP

Peshawar, June 14, 2026: At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured in various incidents caused by heavy rain, windstorms and lightning across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the past 24 hours.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), multiple incidents of roof and wall collapses were reported in different districts, including Bannu, Shangla and Mansehra.

Among the deceased were two children, four men, and one woman, while the injured included seven men, 12 women, and 14 children.

Authorities said that continuous rain and strong winds triggered structural collapses, leading to multiple casualties across the province.

Officials also warned of potential glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in upper regions due to rising temperatures and melting glaciers. District administrations in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Mansehra have been directed to remain alert and monitor sensitive areas closely.

Residents living near rivers, streams, and flood-prone zones have been advised to take precautionary measures and follow evacuation instructions if issued by authorities.
