A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, and comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Ijazul Hasan took up a suo motu case on the sale of low-quality ghee and cooking oil at utility stores on Wednesday. During the hearing, Utility Stores Corporation (USC) managing director filed a written report. He took the plea that he had submitted a report about Chitral. It was said by the quality testing authority in the report that the ghee lacked vitamin A but this deficiency can be made up. However, the government had imposed a ban on the sale of utility brand ghee and cooking oil all over the country. It is not being sold anywhere in the country. The ghee available in Chitral will be sold out within a month. The court was also told that stock of 130 tons of ghee and cooking oil was available in Chitral. The court ordered that the sale of this stock of ghee and cooking oil be stopped in Chitral in a month and a detailed report be filed until April 14.
