DROSH, Jan 17: Newly-appointed District Police Office Chitral Abbas Majid Marwat took charge of his assignment after reaching Chitral.

Public circles expressed their satisfaction on the appointment and also raised many expectations from the new police chief. The newly-appointed DPO is a young Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer having a good reputation in the department. The main challenge ahead of this young officer is the rampant drug paddling and use in the valley. Public circles expected that the DPO would chalk out a decisive plan to curb this menace.
Drug paddling has been increasing day by day while other related departments were totally unable to control it. Due to the unavailability of effective and sustainable mechanism, this illegal business flourished rapidly and now it has reached every nuke and corner of the district even in small villages.
It is very disturbing that youngsters are becoming drug addicts very fast. This major threat would be a test case for the district police chief.
Secondly, like other parts of the country, in Chitral there have been police officials who never hesitated to misuse their authority and power of the uniform. Such acts always brought more defamation to the police. Due to the sacrifices of policemen, the force had gain respect and reputation but acts of a handful of people further damaged its respect. The new DPO is expected to look towards this culture as well and take prompt action.
Generally speaking, the Chitral police could be termed a well disciplined and have also rendered good services. However, everything could not be said fine inside this important law enforcement department.
The people of Chitral are well known for their love of peace, harmony and patriotism and these were the people of Chitral who kept their home out of any untoward activity. Therefore, mutual coordination and collaboration between the police and the community would bring an encouraging outcome.]]>
1st i would like to congrtz the new appointed police chief. 2nd as a chitrali every wants peace in our area.and chitrali is very peace full area in the whole country,so with out police deptt its not possible to maintain it.3rd now a days drug mafia are roaming alot in the whole distt. specially police deptt should focus on kalash valleys, drosh,chitral , Booni area, laspure, sonorghore,awi,brep area, these are area from where drug supply to other distt. and i request the police chief that he should manage a complain box specially these area because people put their complain easily (with drug dealer name)in these boxes.
This is strange to see that Kashi has declared herself as a proud Yarkhunik but did not mention Yarkhun where you can find a large number of opium addicts and even hashish is also being cultivated. She should have pointed out the people who are thought to be mashoor-e-zamana charsi and it is believed these people are behind hashish cultivation in the Yarkhun valley. The new DPO should be informed about those who are still enjoying “Patrangaziyan’ to beat the cold in the valley.
