CHITRAL: The much-awaited Chitral Football League (CFL), one of the country’s major sporting events, will kick off on August 29 at Colonel Murad Stadium, Drosh, featuring some of Pakistan’s top football teams.
The Chitral Football League is being organized by Ideal Football Club Drosh with the support of Chitral Scouts. The league is also receiving support from the Lower Chitral District Administration, District Sports Office, Chitral Police, and District Football Association.
According to a statement issued by the league management, the event was originally scheduled to begin on August 25. However, the date was changed due to 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, and the league will now officially commence on August 29.
The league management said that some of the country’s leading football teams will participate this year. These include defending champions KRL, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Gujranwala WAPDA, NLI Regiment, and WAPDA Hydro Housing Society Kohat.
Local teams representing Chitral include Chitral Markhors, One Minded FC Lotkoh, Ayeen FC, HQ Jughoor and Ideal FC Drosh, who will compete against some of the country’s leading sides.
The league management expressed the hope that this year’s edition will provide football fans with exciting and memorable matches while further promoting football in Chitral and providing local players an opportunity to compete alongside some of the best teams and players from across Pakistan.
