Chitral-Mastuj Road Reopens Near Kuragh

Staff Correspondent

CHITRAL: The Chitral-Mastuj Road was on Wednesday reopened to traffic near Kuragh after remaining closed for the past two days due to erosion by the flooding Yarkhun river.

The National Highway Authority (NHA), in collaboration with Umar Jan Company, the contractor of the Shandur road, worked around the clock with heavy machinery to reconstruct the damaged road at Karak near Kuragh village.

NHA Project Manager Muhammad Ibrahim in a video statement said the concerned agencies worked day and night under extremely challenging conditions to reopen the important highway.

The reopening has brought relief to passengers and residents who had been facing serious difficulties due to the road closure.

Meanwhile, the NHA also restored traffic on Chitral-Dir road after arranging an alternative passageway through the Broz Gol where the bridge was washed away by flash floods on Aug 3.
