CHITRAL: Water supply to Chitral city has been temporarily suspended after floodwaters in the Garam Chashma River contaminated the headworks of the Angarghun Water Supply Scheme with muddy water.
Officials said the suspension was necessary to protect public health and prevent contaminated water from reaching consumers. The concerned department and technical staff are closely monitoring the situation, and water supply will be restored as soon as the quality is declared safe for consumption.
Authorities apologised for the temporary inconvenience and appealed to residents to cooperate during the disruption.
Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Haider Ayub Khan urged citizens to use water sparingly in view of the possible shortage and avoid unnecessary consumption.
Khan said the TMA was fully aware of the difficulties faced by residents in flood-affected areas. He added that municipal teams were working around the clock to provide water to affected communities and support ongoing restoration efforts.
He appealed to residents to cooperate with the authorities so that essential services could be restored as quickly as possible.
