Chitral, Jan 26, 2026: On the directives of the provincial government, a temporary shelter has been established in Ashiret (Asuret) to facilitate passengers and tourists stranded due to the blockade of the Chitral road during snowfall.
The shelter is providing accommodation, food, first aid, and other basic facilities to those affected, according to a statement by the Lower Chitral district administration.
Officials from relevant line departments are present on-site and are actively engaged in assisting and guiding the stranded individuals.
“Passengers and tourists have appreciated the timely and people-friendly measures taken by the district administration,” it added.
It may be mentioned here that recent heavy snowfall has blocked roads in Lower Chitral, including the Lowari Tunnel road linking Chitral with other parts of the country.
