Islamabad, Jan 18, 2026: The Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for Chitral and several other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, forecasting extremely cold temperatures in the region over the next few days.
According to the latest forecast, the upper and hilly areas of the province are likely to experience severe cold weather conditions.
In particular, Chitral, both upper and lower, along with districts like Dir (upper and lower), Bajaur, Mohmand, Abbottabad, Mansehra and a few other locations are expected to see rain and snowfall in higher altitudes. The mountains of these areas may receive significant snowfall, potentially affecting local roads and transportation.
The weather is expected to remain chilly and partly cloudy in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Karak and Bannu. Fog is likely to form during the early mornings and late evenings, which may reduce visibility and cause traffic disruptions.
Further to the east, regions such as Battagram, Kohistan, Torghar, Buner, Shangla and Swat are also predicted to experience light rain, with higher elevations expecting snowfall.
Local authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution, especially in the mountainous and fog-prone areas, and recommended that residents prepare for the ongoing cold weather.
