CHITRAL, Dec 28, 2025: In Lachigram village in Damel of Arandu, a man allegedly shot dead his former wife, his minor daughter along with his brother for honor on Sunday.
Jalabib Khan, son of Gul Muhammad, allegedly opened fire on his former wife Hanifa Bibi, brother Ismail Khan and three-year-old daughter, killing them on the spot. The incident is suspected to be linked to an honor-related dispute though police have yet to confirm the motive.
According to available details, the alleged killer had separated from his former wife a few years ago after her alleged illicit relationship with his nephew, named Asim, son of Ismail Khan, came to light. Later, a reconciliation was arranged through a jirga, under which Ismail was required to pay one million rupees in compensation to Jalabib.
Due to the non-payment of this amount, Jalabib was reportedly angry. On Sunday, Jalabib found his former wife present at his brother’s house and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Hanifa Bibi, her infant daughter, who was sitting in her mother’s lap, and Ismail died on the spot.
Following the incident, the alleged killer fled from the area. Police reached the scene, took custody of the bodies, and transported them to the DHQ hospital Chitral for postmortem. A search operation has been launched to arrest the suspect.
