ISLAMABAD: The election to the Gilgit-Baltisan Assembly will be held on January 24, 2026. After approval by President Asif Zardari, the election schedule for the assembly has been officially announced.
According to a notification, candidates should submit their nomination papers by December 15. The list of nominated candidates will be published on December 24.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on December 30, and decisions on appeals will be made by January 10. The final list of candidates will be released on January 11.
The notification said candidates will have until January 12 to withdraw their nominations, after which election symbols will be allotted on January 13. Polling will be held on January 24 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly consists of 33 total seats, of which 24 are elected, with 6 reserved for women and 3 for technocrats.
