No More Shortage Of Firewood In Mosques: JI Leader

Bashir Hussain Azad | Chitral Today

CHITRAL, Oct 30, 2025: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Lower Chitral chief Wajeehuddin has said the long-standing issue of providing deodar firewood for mosques, madrasas, and other welfare institutions during the harsh winter season has finally been resolved.

In a statement, Wajeehuddin said that due to a government-imposed ban on the sale and supply of deodar firewood in the open market, mosques, religious seminaries, and welfare centers had been facing severe difficulties in arranging fuel for heating during the cold months.

He explained that a delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami Lower Chitral met with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lower Chitral and apprised him of the situation, urging the district administration to lift restrictions on the use of fallen, waste, and decomposed timber lying in large quantities in forested areas so that the local community could utilize it for legitimate needs.

According to Wajeehuddin, both the Deputy Commissioner and the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Chitral took special interest in the matter and extended full cooperation, thereby resolving this long-pending public issue to the relief of many institutions.

He stated that the required deodar firewood will now be made available under official supervision, and that the management of mosques, madrasas, and other welfare organizations can contact the DFO’s representative or Jamaat-e-Islami Lower Chitral to obtain wood from the designated collection points as per the approved procedure.

Wajeehuddin expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral and the Divisional Forest Officer for their keen interest, timely intervention, and active role in addressing an important and long-standing issue affecting the local community.
