KARACHI: Professor Dr Karim Damji has been appointed as the new Dean of the Aga Khan Medical College effective 11 August 2025 in place of Dr Adil Haider who is proceeding back to the USA.
\”A globally recognized leader in glaucoma research, an accomplished educator, and a long-standing member of the AKU community, Dr Damji brings over 30 years of academic, clinical, and leadership experience to this role,\” said the AKU in a statement.
Dr Damji currently serves as the inaugural Laila Endowed Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at AKU.
His previous leadership roles include Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Alberta, and President of both the Canadian Glaucoma Society and the Canadian Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology.
