ISLAMABAD, June 25, 2025: A key development has emerged in the tragic murder case of social media star Sana Yousaf as the primary suspect, Umar Hayat Kaka has reportedly confessed to the crime before a magistrate.
According to sources close to the investigation, Kaka admitted that he killed Sana Yousaf after she repeatedly refused to meet him. In his recorded statement, he said he was deeply angered by her behavior and rejection.
The suspect stated that during their first scheduled meeting, Sana refused to see him despite his day-long wait. He had brought a birthday gift for her, which she declined to accept.
He further claimed that on June 2, she once again invited him but did not meet him. Enraged by what he described as repeated humiliation, he allegedly went to her residence and shot her dead.
Sana Yousaf was killed at her home in Islamabad on June 2. After the incident, the accused fled to Faisalabad, where he was later arrested by law enforcement agencies.
The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for swift justice.
Confession before magistrate
Under the law, a confession made before a magistrate holds significant legal weight if it is recorded in accordance with Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Such a confession must be made voluntarily without coercion or influence and the magistrate is legally bound to ensure that the accused fully understands the consequences of their statement.
If proven to have been given freely, a Section 164 CrPC confession can be used as substantive evidence in court. However, the trial court still retains the authority to evaluate its credibility, especially if the defense challenges its voluntariness.
