Drug abuse in Chitral. Drug abuse discussed at public liaison committee meetings

Community vows full support to police against drug abuse

BOONI: The growing threat of drug abuse took center stage during a meeting of the Public Liaison Committee held at Torkhow Police Station.

Chaired by SDPO Molai Shah of Torkhow/Mulkhow Circle, the session was attended by police officials and community members.

Participants expressed deep concern over the increasing use and distribution of drugs in the area. In response, the committee unanimously agreed on launching widespread awareness campaigns.

These campaigns will engage local mosques and Jamaat Khanas to educate the youth and community members about the dangers of narcotics.

The committee members pledged full support to the police in identifying and reporting drug-related activities. They also emphasized the importance of community-based vigilance and early intervention.

In his closing remarks, SDPO Molai Shah appreciated the commitment of the committee and reiterated that public cooperation is key to establishing sustainable peace and tackling social issues effectively.

This collaborative effort reflects a proactive step by the police to address local concerns through mutual trust and engagement.

Meanwhile, a similar meeting of the committee was also held in Yarkhun Lasht where the issue of drug abuse was also discussed with a resolve to work against elements involved in drug peddling.
