Traditional games shine in Kalash spring festival

RUMBUR: Local athletes thrilled audience with traditional games like archery, buzkashi, and wrestling during the weeklong Shkanda Festival in Rumbur.

Al-Quraish Welfare Society and Kalash Valley Development Authority jointly organized the event, attracting participants and guests from across the country.

The organizers aimed to preserve indigenous heritage and engage the youth with their cultural roots. Culture promoters urged the government to support traditional sports and ensure the continuity of such festivals.

Assistant Director of Kalash Welfare Development Authority Ikram Hussain praised Chitral’s cultural diversity and reaffirmed the authority’s mission to protect and promote local traditions.

District Sports Officer Khalid Khan assured full departmental support for traditional games and similar cultural events.

Naveed Ahmad, Political Advisor to MPA Fatehul Mulk Nasir, highlighted the provincial government\’s efforts to discover local talent through district-level events.
