Training workshop on disaster reporting concludes

CHITRAL: The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) Pakistan organized a two-day training workshop on “Disaster Risk Management Reporting”.

Reporters from print, electronic, and social media platforms across Lower and Upper Chitral participated in the workshop.

The training aimed to strengthen skills of local journalists for effective, positive, and responsible reporting during natural disasters. Trainers provided participants with hands-on instruction in first aid, field reporting, and other essential disaster-related skills.

At the closing ceremony, District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Iftikhar Shah highlighted the crucial role of media in a disaster-prone and underdeveloped region like Chitral. He praised the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat’s efforts and expressed confidence that trained journalists will now report effectively during emergencies.

AKAH Regional Program Manager (RPM) Wali Muhammad Khan said the agency had led disaster response efforts across Chitral for decades and sees journalist training as a vital part of their mission.

At the end of the event, the organizers distributed certificates to all participants.
