BOONI: A court in Booni on Tuesday sent the alleged killer of a final-year architecture engineering student hailing from Reshun to the judicial lock-up in Lower Chitral at the end of his three-day physical remand in the police.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Atiq Shah told reporters at his office that the suspect, Ikram Nawaz, during the remand custody confessed to killing Rafiq Ali over a petty issue. SP Investigation Ajmal Khan, SDPO Mastuj Molai Shah and SHO Booni Khalil Ahmed were also present. The suspect was presented in the court and the judge sent him to jail as the police said they had completed their probe.
According to the DPO, the suspect stated that he and Rafiq were friends and used to spent time together. On the night of April 20, the suspect said, they were together at Kulum Shughoor near Reshun when he hit Rafiq with a stone in the head after he passed some objectionable remarks, which caused his immediate death. The police did not disclose the remarks over which the youth was killed.
The suspect, father of four, told the police that he left the dead body along with the bike of the deceased at the crime scene. The suspect said he had informed his family about the incident.
The police said they had completed the investigation in a professional way and recorded the statements of the alleged killer and his family and would submit the challan to court with all the evidence.
The suspect was arrested five days after the dead body of Rafiq was recovered on the complaint of his brother.
