LAHORE: A fire broke out at the gynaecology ward of Lahore General Hospital on Tuesday, prompting an emergency response and the evacuation of more than 70 people.
Rescue teams quickly reached the hospital and brought the fire under control. According to initial information, the blaze started in the ward’s exhaust system.
More than 70 people were safely evacuated from the affected ward during the rescue operation. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The fire comes just days after a deadly blaze at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, where 14 newborn babies died in a fire at the hospital’s children’s ward.
Authorities have repeatedly emphasized the need for effective fire-safety measures and emergency preparedness at hospitals following the PIMS tragedy.
