Chitral, July 16, 2036: The Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Lower Chitral, in collaboration with NIDA Pakistan, organized a farmers’ awareness programme along with a vaccination, deworming and veterinary treatment campaign in Drosh on July 15.

The initiative aimed to educate farmers on the prevention and control of major livestock diseases, the importance of timely vaccination and regular deworming, improved animal husbandry practices and better livestock management to enhance productivity.

During the campaign, veterinary teams vaccinated 580 animals against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). A large number of cattle, sheep and goats were also dewormed, while sick animals received on-site veterinary examination and treatment.

Farmers were provided practical guidance on disease prevention, biosecurity measures, animal nutrition and the importance of seeking timely veterinary care.

Officials said the campaign improved access to essential veterinary services for farmers and strengthened disease prevention efforts in the area.

Participating farmers appreciated the Livestock Department and NIDA Pakistan for organizing the outreach programme, describing it as a valuable initiative that would help improve livestock health and support their livelihoods.

The programme reflects the Livestock Department’s continued commitment, in partnership with development organizations, to protecting animal health, increasing livestock productivity and supporting farming communities through field-based veterinary services.
