Islamabad, July 13, 2026: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) held a review meeting with the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to assess preparations for the upcoming Monsoon 2026 season.
The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik and attended by the NDMA chairman, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) director general and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, participants reviewed measures to tackle potential flood situations, including urban and riverine flooding, landslides, and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs). The PDMA briefed the participants on provincial preparedness, emergency response planning, and the availability of resources to deal with possible monsoon-related emergencies.
Dr. Musadik Malik directed all relevant departments and institutions to remain fully alert during the monsoon season and emphasized strengthening coordination mechanisms at the district and union council levels.
The meeting also highlighted the need to promote safe tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the monsoon period and ensure improved travel facilities. Participants stressed the importance of public awareness campaigns to educate communities about monsoon-related risks and preventive measures.
