MOSCOW, July 11, 2026: Russia has hosted what organizers described as the country’s first robot wedding ceremony, with a video of the event attracting widespread attention on social media.
The ceremony took place at a library in the Russian capital, Moscow, where two humanoid robots, named Robert and Matilda, were symbolically declared husband and wife during a staged celebration.
Videos shared online showed the robots dancing during the ceremony and exchanging wedding bracelets as part of the event.
According to organizers, Robert was designed to function as an office worker and blogger, while Matilda was developed as a ballerina robot.
The event was presented as a showcase of robotics and artificial intelligence, highlighting advances in humanoid robot design and public engagement with emerging technologies. The ceremony was symbolic and did not carry any legal status.
