Chitral, July 9, 2026: Newly appointed District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Resham Jahangir held a meeting with religious scholars in her office to discuss social issues and the role of police in maintaining peace in the district.
During the meeting, the ulema briefed the DPO on Chitral’s tradition of religious harmony, brotherhood and cultural values. They appreciated the police’s ongoing campaign against narcotics and suggested further measures to strengthen anti-drug efforts.
The DPO expressed hope that the religious leaders would continue playing an active role in preserving religious harmony in Chitral.
He appealed to the ulema to work alongside the police in combating drug abuse, resolving public disputes, supporting victims and promoting social reforms.
DPO Jahangir also urged the scholars to help raise awareness among the younger generation about the responsible and positive use of social media.
The delegation of religious scholars agreed that both the police and the ulema shared the common objective of building a peaceful, welfare-oriented and reformed society, and pledged their full support for the initiative.
