Booni, June 10, 2026: A senior Communication and Works (C&W) officer was seriously injured after falling into a deep ravine while attempting to cross a blocked road in Upper Chitral.
According to reports, Ziaur Rehman, the executive engineer of the C&W department Upper Chitral, was traveling to his office in Booni when he encountered a road blockage at the Reshun–Shader point.
Due to a stranded truck on the road, he climbed the truck to cross over but slipped and fell into a deep gorge.
After being alerted, Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Booni Medical Center, where he was provided initial treatment before being referred to Peshawar for further medical care.
Local people said that the Reshun–Shader road has been facing frequent blockages for the past two years, often disrupting travel and posing serious risks to commuters.
Meanwhile, President of the Upper Chitral Press Club, Muhammad Ali Mujahid, strongly criticized the district administration, accusing the deputy commissioner of negligence and lack of oversight, stating that such incidents could be avoided with proper monitoring and timely action.
