Section 144 Imposed to Secure Qaqlasht Festival Ground

Booni, March 26, 2026: The district administration of Upper Chitral has intensified efforts to enforce Section 144 at Qaqlasht ahead of the annual festival, aiming to protect the festival ground and environment.

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Adnan Haider Malooki visited Qaqlasht to review the implementation of the restrictions. During the visit, authorities took action against individuals found violating Section 144, particularly those involved in activities such as drifting, racing and one-wheeling within the designated festival area.

Officials emphasized that such activities not only pose safety risks but also damage the natural beauty of the area. The assistant commissioner also addressed visitors present at the site, stating that Qaqlasht is a vast tourist destination where people can enjoy the open environment, but unnecessary and unsafe activities within the festival grounds must be avoided. He noted that a major festival is scheduled in the coming days, requiring proper discipline and cooperation from the public.

In addition, individuals who had set up stalls without authorization were directed to relocate to designated areas outside the main festival zone to prevent disruption to official arrangements. The district administration has appealed to tourists and locals to cooperate by avoiding prohibited activities, including drifting, racing, one-wheeling, and other forms of recreational disturbance in the festival area.

Officials said these measures are essential to preserve the natural beauty, cleanliness, and greenery of Qaqlasht, as well as to ensure smooth and successful holding of the upcoming festival.
